The Story of Wonder Flowers
“I could never have imagined a such a perfect arrangement. I now have my very own place to grow flowers on a picturesque historical property only five minutes from where I grew up.
Working from home as a result of the pandemic meant I was able to escape my apartment in Toronto and spend more time at my parents place near Newington. The pleasures of country living began to appeal again. One summer afternoon, I noticed there was a house on a 3/4 acre lot for sale in Newington. Not only was the house for sale, but it came with a historic brick church! I just had to see it for myself. I took a drive to see it, took pictures through the car window, and excitedly sent them to my closest friend.
It was at that moment that my dream began to take shape. But I wasn’t really even looking to buy a place! Over the next two months, I kept driving by the property and talking about how perfect it would be for a flower farm. Miraculously it didn’t sell (it needed work!), until in September 2022, it became mine.
Before doing any work on the house, or even moving anything in, I ordered two dump trucks of soil and compost to make the first garden beds. This is my first spring on the farm and everything is starting to take shape. It's sure been a wonderfully tulip-filled spring!
